When MY Paintings Find a Home

When My Paintings Find a Home: The Meaning of Sharing My Art

One of the most surprising parts of sharing my artwork has been discovering how deeply people’s responses affect me. Whether someone purchases a painting, sends a thoughtful message, or simply stops to tell me how a piece makes them feel, it stays with me. Those moments mean more than I can easily explain.

When I’m painting, I’m following something personal: a feeling, a combination of colors, or the way layers of paint begin to come together. But once I share that painting, something happens beyond my own experience. Someone else finds a connection. And sometimes, that connection is strong enough that they want to bring it home.

The Thought That Still Amazes Me

There is something absolutely mind-blowing about knowing that an original painting I created now hangs in someone’s house. They chose a place for it. They walk past it in the morning, see it from their favorite chair, or spend a quiet moment looking at it after a long day.

What began on my canvas becomes part of their everyday surroundings.

I find that overwhelming in the best possible way. The possibility that my work might bring someone a little calm, pleasure, or comfort is incredibly meaningful. It gives the hours spent painting a life beyond the studio.

Color, Texture, and a Personal Connection

My textured acrylic paintings often begin with something from nature: lily pads spreading across a pond, flowers leaning out of a vase, or marsh grasses catching the light. Using palette knives and layers of acrylic paint, I explore those subjects through color, movement, and depth.

But what I see in a painting may be different from what you see.

A lily pad painting might remind someone of summers beside a lake. An abstract floral painting might bring warmth to a room or recall a garden they once loved. Sometimes there is no particular memory. The colors and texture simply feel right.

I love hearing those interpretations. They help me understand how something so personal to me can become equally personal to someone else.

Finding More Opportunities to Connect

That response is why I keep putting my work out into the world, even when reaching new people feels difficult. As an artist based in Punta Gorda, Florida, I’m still finding ways to introduce my nature-inspired abstract art to people who might connect with it.

My hope is to participate in one or perhaps two art shows this winter. That’s the plan, and we’ll see how it unfolds. I would love more opportunities to meet people and let them experience the texture and depth of my paintings in person.

To everyone who has offered encouragement, shared my work, or welcomed a painting into your home: thank you. You have given me reasons to keep exploring and painting.

If something here catches your eye, please send me a question or comment through my contact page. Tell me what you see or what a painting makes you feel. I would truly love to talk with you.
