Thanks for visiting my abstract work!

Welcome to My World of Color, Texture, and Abstract Art

Thank you for being here. I’m Warren Wulkan, and I’m happy to welcome you to my website and to this first entry in my art blog.

Whether you discovered my paintings at a show, through a friend, or while searching for original art, I appreciate you taking the time to look. Sharing my work is personal. Each painting holds something of what I was feeling as I created it, and having someone pause and connect with it means a great deal to me.

Based in Punta Gorda, Florida, and spending my summers in Maine, I find inspiration in both places' natural surroundings. Lily pads, quiet ponds, marsh grasses, and flowers often find their way into my nature-inspired abstract art. I’m drawn to the feeling of these places, their stillness, their movement, and the colors that appear when you take a little more time to look.

Why Color and Texture Matter to Me

I work primarily with acrylic paint and palette knives, building layers that give my paintings physical depth. This impasto technique creates raised surfaces, broken edges, and unexpected passages of color. Sometimes one small mark changes an entire painting.

In my textured acrylic paintings, the surface is part of the story. Light catches the paint differently throughout the day, revealing details that photographs can only partly capture. I hope you’ll take your time exploring the close-up images and noticing those quieter details.

My work moves between abstract lily pad paintings, expressive floral paintings, and landscapes shaped by memory and feeling. There is always something familiar to hold on to, alongside room for your own interpretation.

A Little Calm in a Busy World

Painting gives me a place to slow down. In a world that can feel overwhelming, working with color and texture helps me find some calm.

That is what I hope my paintings offer you, too: a moment to pause, a sense of curiosity, or simply the pleasure of seeing colors come together. You may notice something I never consciously put into the painting. I love that possibility—that a piece can begin with my feelings and take on new meaning through yours.

I’d Love to Hear What You See

You don’t need to know anything about art to join the conversation. If a painting catches your attention, I’d love to hear why. Does it remind you of a place? Bring back a memory? Is there a color or detail you keep returning to?

Please reach out through my contact page with questions about my process, individual paintings, dimensions, or availability—or simply to tell me what you think.

I’ll use this blog to share new paintings, works in progress, and some of the thoughts behind them. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me, collected my work, or taken a moment to look. Your interest makes sharing this part of my life especially meaningful.

Welcome, and thank you for spending some time with my art.
